When Life Feels Uncertain: Finding Your Way Back to Yourself

There are moments in life where things quietly shift.
Sometimes it’s obvious - a loss, a breakup, a change in work, or a move.
Other times, it’s harder to name. You just feel… different. A little lost, disconnected, or unsure of who you are right now.

If you’ve been feeling this way, you’re not alone.

I often walk alongside people navigating anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, and self-worth challenges - and one thing I see time and time again is this:
You’re not broken. You’re in a moment of change.

The In-Between Space

Life transitions can feel like standing between two versions of yourself -
who you were, and who you’re becoming.

This space can bring:

  • Anxiety and overthinking

  • Self-doubt or loss of confidence

  • Grief for what was

  • A sense of feeling stuck or unsure

It’s uncomfortable, and often we try to rush through it or “fix” it quickly.
But this in-between space isn’t something to escape - it’s something to gently move through.

Why Anxiety Often Shows Up

When life feels uncertain, your nervous system is trying to make sense of it.
That’s where anxiety can come in - racing thoughts, tension in your body, or a constant sense of worry.

Rather than seeing anxiety as something to get rid of, we can begin to understand it as a signal:
Something in your life is shifting, and you need support, safety, and space to process it.

Rebuilding Your Sense of Self

During times of change or loss, it’s common to feel disconnected from yourself.

Gently rebuilding self-worth doesn’t mean becoming someone new -
it means reconnecting with who you already are, underneath the noise.

Some small, supportive ways to begin:

  • Slowing down and giving yourself permission to rest

  • Spending time in nature to feel grounded

  • Noticing your thoughts without judging them

  • Talking things through with someone who feels safe

You don’t have to have it all figured out.

Grief Isn’t Just About Loss

Grief can show up in many ways - not just when we lose someone we love.

You might be grieving:

  • A past version of yourself

  • A relationship

  • A sense of stability or certainty

  • The life you thought things would look like

Grief and growth often sit side by side.
Both deserve space.

A Different Way to Feel Supported

For many people, sitting in a room face-to-face can feel intense - especially when you’re already overwhelmed.

That’s why I offer walk and talk therapy across Ballina, Brunswick Heads, and Kingscliff, as well as surrounding areas.

Walking side by side in nature can:

  • Reduce anxiety and calm the nervous system

  • Make it easier to talk openly

  • Create a sense of space and perspective

  • Help you feel more grounded and connected

It’s a gentle, natural way to work through what’s coming up - at your own pace.

You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone

If you’re moving through a time of change, feeling stuck, or struggling with anxiety or self-worth, support can make a real difference.

I offer counselling for teens and adults across Ballina, Brunswick Heads, Kingscliff and the Northern Rivers, supporting you through life transitions, grief, and emotional overwhelm in a way that feels calm, supportive, and real.

You don’t need to have the right words.
You just need a place to start.
